Lost Valley Ranch
I have just had the experience of spending a week at Lost Valley Ranch which while it wasn't a photography holiday, it was actually a great place to take photos.
The ranch has a selection of weeks with themes around riding horses and driving cattle. Many weeks are family oriented but the week I chose was a Horsemanship week for adults only. The aim being to learn how to be comfortable and balanced on a horse, how to move a horse and how to move cattle. Activities were either in the arena where the horsemanship skills were taught or out in the wilds on a ride.
The landscape of the ranch was spectacular and it would have been easy to make many great landscape photographs but it was the horses, people and cowboy paraphernalia that really drew my eye. Below is a selection of my favourite photographs from the week.

Starry Night over Lost Valley Ranch
Mr Thompson, my name is Jim Evenson and I'm a friend of Charlene and Paul Allen. I was checking out some of her photos and there was a comment from her to check out your ''seriously good photos''. I started coming to Lost Valley ranch in the late 90's and went back several times a year until 2004 when I stayed close to home to take care of my son until he died in 2008. I finally made it back to the Valley in 2009 to do some healing and writing. I'm in the process of writing my second book on my journey through grief and how God brought me through the dark valley I was in. Looking at your photos of the ranch makes me think it's time to start going back on a regular basis. I brought my eleven year old granddaughter Trinity to Lost Valley in June 2013. I retired a month earlier and decided it was time she experienced the Valley and we both had a fabulous time. I have horses back here in Minnesota and we ride often. Thank you for these beautiful photos. Blessings to you.
